Nearly every region of the world saw sales rise for the third consecutive quarter, with Europe and Latin America experiencing growth rates above 10%.

Samsung continues to lead the worldwide smartphone industry with a 5% annual sales gain. Apple Inc. continues to hold second place despite a 1% drop in shipments. Xiaomi, a Chinese company, reported record growth of 22%. In the meantime, Chinese firm Vivo topped the smartphone sales charts in China and India, the two most populous countries in the world, during the April–June period.

Tarun Pathak, head of research at Counterpoint, said, "The growth in smartphone sales over the last three quarters is good news for the entire industry. - Although sales in 2023 were at an all-time low, the market has since swiftly recovered. We continue to have high hopes for the upcoming quarters."

International Data Corporation had earlier in the day revealed that it had calculated that shipments of smartphones worldwide rose by 6.5% to 285.4 million units in the second quarter of 2024. The corporation also said that the number has increased for four straight quarters.
