KPMG management is advocating for the consolidation of numerous national member firms within its global network, believing it will foster business growth and reduce the likelihood of audit scandals, reports the Financial Times, referencing sources.

The effort to establish tighter collaboration among firms owned by distinct partners in every country would represent one of the largest reorganizations of a Big Four global auditing firm in recent years, and arises during a period of sluggish growth and ambiguity within the industry, the newspaper reported.

Sources referencing KPMG's presentation to analysts indicate that the firm aims to decrease its global network membership to 32 by next year. Two years back, KPMG's network included over 100 member firms.

Starting in 2023, the company is adopting a "clustering" strategy, which has already resulted in the merger of multiple firms in its network across the Middle East and Africa.

In December of the previous year, it was revealed that KPMG plans to combine its operations in the UK and Switzerland.
