The firm and the council consented to decrease several payments in return for maintaining job security for the majority of employees until 2034. This is stated by the German media citing the company's press service.

Specifically, agreements allow for a halving of the intended salary increases, leading to smaller annual bonuses, among other changes. Although some employees will still face layoffs, the cuts will not impact the production departments. There is no information regarding the number of employees intended to be laid off.

Mercedes-Benz, similar to other European car manufacturers, is encountering a drop in demand, escalating costs, heightened competition from Chinese firms, and various other obstacles. The management of Mercedes-Benz aims to reduce production expenses by 10% by the year 2027.
