Tesla sales collapse by 45% in Europe

According to the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA), Tesla sold just 9.9 thousand electric vehicles in Europe during January.

Elon Musk's company succeeded in selling 18.2 thousand of its vehicles in the area in the previous year. As a result, the company's sales declined by 45%, whereas overall electric car sales in Europe rose by 37% by the end of January.

In January, 166 thousand new electric vehicles were recorded in Europe. Sales growth was observed in all key markets except France (-0.5%).

In the EU, electric car sales increased a bit more moderately? by 34%, yet their market share has risen to 15% compared to 10.9% in January 2024. Sales of hybrid vehicles in the EU increased by 18.4% to 290,000, and their market share has reached 34.9%.

Simultaneously, the sales of gasoline-fueled vehicles in the EU fell by 18.9% throughout the year, while diesel vehicles dropped by 27%. Currently, cars powered by gasoline make up just 29.4% of sales, while the proportion of diesel vehicles in the market has fallen to 10%.
