As stated in the company’s report, the payment amounts have risen tenfold since 2014, when royalties were $1 billion. Since its launch in 2008, Spotify has compensated copyright holders with $60 billion.

According to MarketWatch, this is the company's initial comprehensive report displaying precise payment figures. In the past, certain musicians have voiced their discontent with Spotify, pointing out that its royalties do not offer adequate recompense. Specifically, due to this reason, Taylor Swift severed ties with the company in 2014 and took her discography off its platform.

Spotify stocks increased by 4.2% during New York trading on Wednesday. In the last year, the firm's capitalization has increased more than twofold to reach $102.1 billion
