The losses rank among the top four in the 13-year history of the index’s calculation and are the most substantial since the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The wealth of over half of the billionaires listed in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index dropped on Thursday, averaging a decrease of 3.3%.

U.S. billionaires, such as the creators of Meta Platforms Inc. and Amazon.com Inc., faced the greatest losses. On April 3, the stocks of both firms dropped by 9%.

The drop in Meta's securities value decreased Zuckerberg's wealth by $17.9 billion, while Bezos saw a $15.9 billion loss due to Amazon's stock price decline.

On April 3, the wealth of Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk dropped by $11 billion. The value of the electric vehicle manufacturer decreased by 5.5% by the close of trading.

Carlos Slim, Mexico’s wealthiest individual, was among those who weren't impacted by the market decline, as the tariffs declared by Trump on Wednesday did not influence Mexico. On Thursday, Mexico's Bolsa stock index increased by 0.5 percent, while Slim's wealth grew by 4 percent.
