The discussions of the Italian fashion label Prada regarding the acquisition of the Versace brand from Capri Holdings Ltd. have been threatened by the decline in global stock markets, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.

They stated that the parties had provisionally consented to a deal worth approximately $1.4 billion and intended to reveal it on the morning of April 10, but the Prada family has not signed the contract yet.

At this point, the likelihood of the agreement is 50/50, remarked one of the sources of the publication.

The decline in the stock market and ambiguity regarding the impacts of U.S. import tariffs are hindering the companies from finalizing an agreement, the WSJ reported.

Capri, the owner of the Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo brands, purchased Versace in 2018 for €1.8 billion.
