Trump says the United States is interested in Russia's rare earth metals

The United States is interested in resources that Russia possesses, specifically rare earth metals, stated American President Donald Trump during a press conference at the White House.

He mentioned that Moscow and Washington aim to finalize multiple economic development agreements. Similarly, Trump published a corresponding post on his account on the social platform Truth Social: “I am in intense discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin <...> regarding significant economic development agreements.” He stated that “the negotiations are progressing very well.”

Moscow is ready for economic collaboration with the United States, stated Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the Russian president's special representative for foreign investment and economic collaboration, on the social network X. He emphasized that this collaboration is essential for enhancing the resilience of the global economy.

Simultaneously, Trump emphasized the significance of a pact regarding rare earth metals and minerals between the U.S. and Ukraine. He stated that it might be signed “quite soon.” According to the Republican, this agreement could bring back tens of billions of dollars to the United States that had been sent to Ukraine. He added that the deal would strengthen the Ukrainian economy.
