According to the firm's website, Uber Technologies, a US-based startup that offers food delivery and cab ordering services, will introduce a travel by famous black taxis (cabs) service in London early in 2024.

The first taxi drivers have already signed up on the Uber platform; the business anticipates that several hundred of them will be there by January. In 2024, it will be feasible to make use of their services. They will be able to use the Uber platform commission-free for the first six months, according to Reuters.

The alliance that represents about 10,000 of the 15,000 taxi drivers in London, the Licensed Taxi Drivers' Association (LTDA), has expressed opposition to the collaboration and said that Uber did not confer with it prior to making this "unilateral" statement.

"We have no interest in smearing the reputation of the traditional, world-renowned black cab business by putting them alongside Uber, its long-standing safety issues and all that," Steve McNamara, LTDA general secretary, stated.

He continued by saying that the drivers who make up the organization's membership would not be interested in such a collaboration, given that their industry has experienced tremendous growth in the wake of the epidemic due to record-breaking taxi demand, the widespread use of calling apps, and large investments in electric cars.
