Christine Lagarde, the head of the European Central Bank (ECB), informed CNBC that the institution has nearly achieved its aim of restoring inflation to its 2% target, yet should stay adaptable in light of increasing economic unpredictability from trade conflicts.

“We're nearing our target for 2025, and the process of disinflation is progressing effectively,” she stated. “Nonetheless, disturbances continue. The final effect on inflation will be determined by the responses implemented in Europe and elsewhere.”

Last week, the ECB leadership voiced worries regarding the Eurozone economy's outlook, mentioning an ‘extraordinary’ degree of uncertainty. Investors are anticipating that the regulator will implement two or three additional cuts to the key deposit rate, lowering it by 25 basis points each from the existing rate of 2.25 percent.

Lagarde emphasized that the forthcoming direction of monetary policy in the Eurozone remains uncertain.

“We have various alternatives, and we will challenge the data,” she stated. “Regarding options, we might lower rates or we could pause.” The decision will truly be made in each specific meeting, considering the statistical information.
