These nations urge that the OAS meet right away and that the election results be thoroughly reviewed. The statement, which the agency cited, emphasizes the necessity of having impartial monitors present in Venezuela to make sure that the country's voters' wishes are honored.

Furthermore, the signatory states' representatives declared that "the results and the counting of votes should be transparent."

According to EFE, the goal of this joint statement is to demonstrate the determination of the governments of the aforementioned nations to take decisive action to guarantee that the Venezuelan government respects the will of the people, as well as their rising concern over the current state of affairs in that country.

Nicolas Maduro was declared the winner of the presidential contest by Venezuela's National Electoral Council.

The head of the Venezuelan opposition, Maria Corina Machado, declared that the president-elect was Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, Maduro's principal opponent in the race.
