South Korea's Acting President: We will do our best to ensure smooth transition of power to the next head of state

South Korea's acting President Han Duck-soo has pledged to exert every effort to facilitate a smooth transition of authority to the next leader after the Constitutional Court confirmed the impeachment of the current president Yoon Suk Yeol.

“I will faithfully adhere to the Constitution and the law to guarantee that the next government is established promptly,” Han Duck-soo stated in a speech to the country.

"I will strive to guarantee that the presidential election proceeds smoothly and justly," he promised.

The current South Korean president also pledged to ensure that the nation “upholds a strong and steadfast security position.”

"I will take all possible measures to prevent disruptions regarding critical matters like trade disputes and steadfastly uphold public order to ensure our citizens feel secure," he stated.

Han Duck-soo urged the political sphere and the National Assembly to “set aside disagreements” and come together.

"Given that the decision aligns with our constitutional framework, it deserves respect, and the citizens should express their views calmly while demonstrating responsible civic awareness," he stated.
