On Thursday, the EFE agency confirmed to Riverway Law, a law firm representing the movement's interests in London, that the request had been submitted to the British Interior Ministry the day before.
The 106-page petition questions the legal framework for designating Hamas as a terrorist organization in the UK. The document is supported by insights from 20 specialists in the legal, academic, journalistic, political, and cultural sectors, among them former UN International Court of Justice judge John Dugard.
The attorneys urged UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to “make, though challenging, a significant and brave move towards peace.”
