The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reports that 3 million travelers went through TSA security checks at US airports on Sunday, July 7.

This is an all-time high since the TSA was established following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Experts explain the record traffic with the country's celebration of Independence Day on July 4th, which falls on a long weekend following the holiday season.

Additionally, this year has seen a minor decline in travel and hotel costs compared to last year, when the United States saw severe inflation: as of the end of May, U.S. hotel prices were on average 1.2% lower than a year earlier.

The US's record level of air traveler activity is yet another indication of the tourism industry's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Leading US airlines' quarterly reports should be released in the next several days.

Forecasts by analysts indicate that Delta Air Lines will post revenues of $15.5 billion on Thursday, July 11, which is $1 billion more than the same period last year. The International Air Transport Association predicted early in June that 2024 will set new records for both passenger volume and business income.
