The EU is very worried about reports regarding the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which suggest that the food supplies brought in during the ceasefire are depleting. "Humanitarian assistance must be provided to civilians in need", as stated in the document endorsed by EU diplomatic leader Kaja Kallas and European Commission representatives for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica and crisis management Hadja Lahbib.
"The EU reaffirms its request for Israel to remove the blockade on the Gaza Strip to enable large-scale humanitarian aid to begin flowing across the area," stated the EU representatives.
They also condemned "killing of 15 humanitarian workers in the Gaza Strip on March 23" and urged that those accountable be held to justice.
"An unacceptable number of civilian deaths in the Gaza Strip has caused too much suffering for both Israelis and Palestinians," reads the joint statement.
