According to the Financial Times, which cited sources, Apple has had to dramatically lower manufacturing projections for its new class of gadgets, the Vision Pro mixed reality headset.

The targets were reportedly cut due of the device's intricate construction, according to the publication. A less expensive version of the helmet was also delayed by the manufacturer, according to the sources. Around 1 million gadgets were supposed to be produced in the first 12 months. Now, according to sources close to Apple and Luxshare, the company’s Chinese contractor, Apple anticipates producing fewer than 400,000 units in 2024.

Luxshare is the sole helmet manufacturer at the moment. According to two Chinese manufacturers of specific parts for the Vision Pro, Apple has placed an initial order for between 130,000 and 150,000 units.
