"Germany is in talks with Canada on options for an LNG terminal on Canada's east coast for exports to Europe," the agency said.

In May, according to the agency, Canadian Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said the country was discussing options with companies operating two East Coast LNG terminals to accelerate the projects to increase shipments to Europe.

Germany's Federal Network Agency said on Tuesday that the gas situation in Germany is tense and is expected to worsen further.
