The world's top climatologists predict that global temperatures will rise by at least 2.5 degrees Celsius this century from pre-industrial levels, with disastrous effects on both the Earth and humans.
There would be a minimum 2.5 degree Celsius increase in temperature, according to over 80% of those surveyed. Roughly half of them said they thought the temperature would rise by three degrees or more.
Merely 6% expect that global warming would not surpass the internationally-approved threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Many responders see the future as "semi-anti-utopian", where heat waves, wildfires, floods, and storms that are far more intense and frequent than those that have already happened will produce famine, conflict, and mass migration for humanity.
