Head of Huawei's consumer division announced that the company has already managed to sell more than 100 million smartphones since the beginning of the year. For comparison, in 2015, Huawei overcame the mark of 100 million produced smartphones on December 22, in 2016 - on October 14, in 2017 - on September 12.

As for 2018, Huawei plans to deliver 200 million gadgets. This move will allow the Chinese vendor to approach Apple, which has been the second largest manufacturer for several years.

In fiscal year 2017, Apple sold 216.76 million iPhones, but in the first quarter of 2018 the supply rose just by 2.8%. Samsung completed 2017 shipping 317.3 million smartphones in total, and in January-March 2018, shipments from the South Korean giant fell 2.4%.

Meanwhile, Huawei sold 39.3 million phones against 52.2 million of released iPhones for the first three months of this year, according to IDC analysts. The share of the Chinese vendor in the global market reached the highest level for the company at 11.8%.

In January-March 2018, shipments of its devices increased by 13.8%, while fell almost 3 percent down in global terms. According to IDC, a total of 334.3 million smartphones entered the global market, compared with 344.4 million in the same period in 2017.

The company notes that the sales increased 51-fold from 2010 to 2017, allowing Huawei to take the third place in the ranking of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world and become the leader in China.

Sales of devices under the brand Honor increased by more than 100% outside of China for the first five months of the year. In the second half of the year, growth will exceed 150%. Honor should help Huawei overcome the 200 million smartphone mark this year.
