President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde said that a variety of factors will determine scope and timing of future increases in key interest rates.
In her address to the European Parliament, Lagarde said, "How long we still have to act, and how swiftly we should do so, will depend on our forecast, health of stock markets, response of wages and inflation expectations, and our evaluation of policy realignment."
Investors are attempting to forecast whether the ECB would raise rates by 50 or 75 basis points at its upcoming meeting, as well as the rate's maximum level.
